Gemma Oaten Leaving Emmerdale

Emmerdale actress Gemma Oaten has announced she is to leave the soap.

Oaten's character, Rachel Breckle, arrived in the village during Summer 2011 and quickly caused a stir in the village with her feisty nature.

The actress will bow out on screen next year following a turbulent time for her character.

Viewers will know that Rachel is keeping a massive secret from her loved ones, that her son Archie is actually Jai Sharma's.

In scenes to be shown next week she confesses the truth to her current boyfriend Sam Dingle (James Hooton), however it's not long until Jai's wife Charity (Emma Atkins) discovers the truth and plots her revenge.

Details of her exit storyline are being kept tightly under wraps by show bosses.
