Katie In Shock Mineshaft Accident

Emmerdale newlywed's Katie and Declan Macey will be at the centre of a huge storyline at the end of the month, when disaster strikes for the pair.

Since returning from their honeymoon things haven't gone to plan for the couple. The truth about Katie setting up Robbie with damning CCTV footage has been revealed, leading to arguments between the couple and fellow family members Megan Macey and Robbie Lawson. Katie has also been rowing with once close friend Gennie Sharma after it was revealed that Gennie knew about Chas and Cameron's affair.

With the rows between the pair set to continue the The Emmerdale Forum takes a look at the accident which will leave the newlywed's in turmoil.



The drama beings when Katie overhears Declan voicing his concerns to Nikhil Sharama about their relationship, she confronts him and a row breaks out. Outside Home Farm, Katie attempts to talk to her husband but he drives off on a quad.

Quickly following behind, she catches up with him and the couple have another confrontation before Declan speeds off again before running out of petrol. Katie bitterly heads back leaving her husband to walk, but disaster is just seconds away.



Declan watches on as Katie heads back, however he is horrified when Katie crashes the quad and falls down a mineshaft. Running to her aid Declan attempts to rescue her, however the ground starts to crumble away.

Gradually Declan crawls closer to Katie and reassures her that everything will be okay. Using his shirt Declan attempts to reach her, however she loses grip and falls deeper into the hole. As Katie starts to regain consciousness she begs him not to leave her but Declan is torn between staying with her and going for help.



Declan makes the decision to go for help, trying to shut out Katie's pleas. Running into a field Declan asks Moira to call the emergency services and bring a tractor to try and get Katie out, though Moira is not convinced by the idea.

As they feed some rope into the mineshaft the tractor moves to close and the mineshaft starts to cave in, resulting in Katie falling down into the black hole below. Lying unconscious, the headlights of the quad flicker.

Andy, Declan and Moira are horrified by the deadly silence, before sirens emerge in the distance. As Katie comes around she screams to Declan, however she soon realises how much danger she is in.

Emmerdale airs the accident on Thursday, November 22 at 7PM
